Malahide Castle mayhem for concertgoers as they struggle to get out of venue

Irish concert-goers have been taking to Twitter after spending nearly two hours trying to exit the carpark at Malahide Castle following The Killers’ concert on Tuesday night.

Some have been warning tonight’s crowds to leave their cars at home as the American rock band return to the stage for a second show.

One disgruntled concert-goer wrote on Twitter: “I walked through #MalahideCastle during the gig and saw all the cars parked there.

“You could tell instantly it was going to be mayhem at the end of the night. Maybe consider the DART in future?”

Another said: “The #MalahideCastle Killers gig was wonderful, but the chaos in the car park afterwards was not.

“Hopefully they have improved the flow /put more staff around to help people tonight. Took me nearly two hours to drive the 24km home afterwards.”

A third wrote: “Great gig last night by @thekillers but the carpark afterwards was a nightmare!

“No traffic management it became a free for all and at one stage we were like bumper cars!! Dreading the thoughts of having to do it all again on Sat night.”

A fourth issued a stern warning to anyone heading to tonight’s concert, writing: “One piece of advice for tonight @thekillers, don’t bring your car… genuinely quicker walking.”

The Irish Mirror has contacted MCD for comment on improvements for tonight’s show.

Meanwhile, the production company earlier released information about all other forms of transport to and from the venue, and encourage people to plan ahead so they’re not left stuck after the show.

They advised all customers to “plan and book your return travel arrangements in advance. Leave plenty of time to get to and from the venue.

“As traffic and parking delays are inevitable you are encouraged to walk, cycle, use the dart or concert bus and coach services.”

The dart will run services each day to and from Malahide dart station - which is a 15-minute walk to the arena entrance from this station. For more information visit www. Irishrail.ie.
