'Makes no sense' - Manchester United fans rage after Marcus Rashford dropped by England

Manchester United supporters are raging after Marcus Rashford was dropped by England coach Gareth Southgate for the World Cup last-16 showdown against Senegal tonight (7pm).

Rashford scored two goals for the Three Lions to inspire his country to victory over Wales in their Group B finale on Tuesday night. However, those heroics have not been enough to earn the 25-year-old first go against Senegal at the Al Bayt Stadium after Southgate opted to make one change to his starting XI.

Arsenal starlet Bukayo Saka has, effectively, replaced Rashford with Harry Kane and Phil Foden joining those two in attacking quarters. England are set to play a 4-3-3 formation.

Despite that setback for Rashford, there are starts for United teammates Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw in defence. They have played all four games at the Qatar showcase, so far, and will be hoping to have the opportunity to make it five by progressing through to the last-8 at the expense of their African opponents.

Of course, the winners of this last-16 showdown will play reigning World Cup champions France in the quarter-final, after they gunned down Poland on Sunday afternoon. Goals from Olivier Giroud and Kylian Mbappe did the damage there while United defender Raphael Varane played his part at the other end.

Rashford has, meanwhile, been omitted alongside Raheem Sterling who is missing altogether while he attends to a family matter, with Saka coming in. Needless to say, that decision has not gone down well on social media.

England (4-3-3): Pickford; Walker, Stones, Maguire, Shaw; Henderson, Rice, Bellingham; Saka, Kane, Foden.

On the bench: Grealish, Rashford, Trippier, Pope, Phillips, Dier, Coady, Alexander-Arnold, Mount, Ramsdale, Wilson, Maddison, Gallagher.
