Makers of the international smash-hit children's television series Bluey have denied the third season will be the loveable cartoon dog's last. The popular animation first launched in Australia in 2018 before becoming a hit with households worldwide.
The official Twitter account for Bluey said there are "no plans" to end the series following rumours the show was coming to an end. The cartoon - which has even seen actress Natalie Portman lend her voice to an episode - made its UK debut in April 2021 and quickly became a huge success here too.
It became the top programme on CBeebies in the month it first aired and the BBC even reported how it was "the number one show in its time slot for 0-6s" and the episodes were "the top five most requested CBeebies episodes on BBC iPlayer" during April 2021.
A UK national website reported the series - which follows six-year-old Blue Heeler puppy Bluey and her adventures with her younger sister, Bingo - was going to end with the third series as voice actors have started to age-out of their roles.
But in a statement on social media, the makers said: "Some of you have spotted some online speculation on the future of #Bluey. We absolutely love the show and there are no plans to end it. The community of fans around the world continue to blow us away and if we ever had an update on Bluey’s future you’d hear it from us first".
Those with young children were delighted. Chad Ryan tweeted: "ABSOLUTE RELIEF" while Danielle added: "We love this show so much. So relieved to hear this, and my kids will be too! You’re a light in this darkness right now". Karla Dawes posted: "A collective sigh from all the toddlers, children (and parents)".
Meg O'Halloran said: "My 2-year-old is currently obsessed with this show, it’s one of the few shows I can also enjoy. Bluey has become a family favourite. Bluey will have to continue for some years to come yet". Theresa Davies added: "Bluey can never end. Its the only kids show that doesn't make me want to tear out my own eyeballs".
You can watch Bluey on Disney+ or the first series on BBC iPlayer.
