Manchester United supporters have offered up mixed views on reports suggesting Elon Musk is preparing to launch an offer to purchase the Premier League club.
Musk, 51, has amassed a staggering £157billion wealth through tech-based businesses and is best known as the CEO of Tesla - the innovative US automotive company. He bought social media platform Twitter last year for $44billion and also founded SpaceX.
He previously joked about buying United on Twitter before confirming his "interest" at that time was merely a tongue-in-cheek comment. Fast forward to the present juncture and reports from Mail Online claim that Musk is "monitoring" the ongoing ownership situation at Old Trafford.

According to the renowned Forbes financial rankings, Musk is currently the second richest person in the world, while only a select few such as him could launch, finance and maintain a full takeover from the much-maligned Glazer family, who have owned the club for 17 years.
It was confirmed in November that the US-based Glazer family are welcoming new investment. Other possible buyers include parties linked to Qatar and Saudi Arabia, as well as British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe. He grew up in the Manchester area, supports United and gave the green light with regards to his interest in January.
However, as the deadline for offers fast approaches, it was Musk who took centre stage on social media when reports from Mail Online surfaced. Here are a selection of comments from supporters.
