Major Sione Tuipulotu injury update as Scotland captain to miss entire Six Nations

Scotland captain Sione Tuipulotu will miss the entirety of the upcoming Six Nations tournament.

The Glasgow Warriors centre suffered a pectoral muscle injury during a training session last week.

He will undergo surgery this week and is expected to return before the end of the season.

However, Tuipulotu will miss all of the Six Nations as a result of the cruel injury.

Rory Darge and Finn Russell will co-captain Scotland in Tuipulotu's absence.

Scott Cummings, meanwhile, sustained an arm fracture against Harlequins and is also likely to miss the tournament.

As it stands, there will be no additions to the Scotland squad.

A Scotland Rugby update read: "Following an injury to Sione Tuipulotu, Rory Darge and Finn Russell will co-captain Scotland in this year’s Guinness Six Nations.

"Darge and Russell led the side in the 2024 championship, in a famous victory over Wales and the 30-21 win over England at Scottish Gas Murrayfield.

Scotland Rugby News exclusively revealed Tuipulotu had emerged as a major injury doubt on Saturday.

The Scotland captain picked up an upper-body injury in training with Glasgow Warriors boss Franco Smith confirming the "freakish" knock.

After Saturday’s Champions Cup defeat to Quins, Smith said: "He had an assessment this morning.

"I don’t know the extent of it yet – I know that the feedback around the player will be given tonight and tomorrow, As we have been involved down here, I haven’t heard the final assessment yet.

"I think he might have injured his pec. It was a freakish injury. It was just something that happened."
