Major Roads Closed In Northern Israel Due To Rocket Blazes

A rocket launched from the Gaza Strip strikes an area near Sderot, southern Israel

Emergency services in northern Israel are currently dealing with a series of blazes caused by rockets falling from Lebanon, resulting in the closure of several major roads in the region. The Israeli military has reported that approximately 160 rockets were fired into northern Israel on Sunday.

Reports from the northern Israeli city of Safed indicate that multiple rocket falls have been observed in various locations, leading to fires breaking out in open areas both within and around the city. The fire brigade is actively working to extinguish these fires, with no immediate danger to nearby homes and no evacuation orders issued at this time.

One of the affected roads is Highway 90, the longest highway in Israel, which has been intermittently blocked as police and a bomb squad work to ensure public safety by removing any potential risks. Despite the disruption caused by these incidents, authorities are taking necessary precautions to manage the situation effectively.

The Fire and Rescue Services for Israel have deployed fifteen teams of firefighters and six helicopters to combat the fires and prevent further damage. While the number of rockets launched from southern Lebanon into Israel has increased during the current conflict with Hezbollah, these incidents typically result in few casualties and only moderate damage.

Efforts are ongoing to contain the fires and restore normalcy to the affected areas, with emergency services working diligently to address the aftermath of these rocket-induced blazes in northern Israel.
