KOLKATA: Major General H Dharmarajan on Thursday took over as the General Officer Commanding (GOC) Bengal Sub Area on Wednesday.
Dharmarajan is an alumni of National Defence Academy, Khandakwasla, IMA Dehradun and Defence Services Staff College, Wellington.
The new GOC has attended higher command courses at Washington DC and NDC at New Delhi.
A BTech, MSc (Defence Studies), MSc (National Security Strategy), M.Phil (Strategic Studies) and MBA (HRM), Dharmarajan was commissioned into the Corps of Engineers (Madras Engineer Group) in December 1986 and during his 36-year-long career, he has held several appointments at various levels at Brigade, Division, Corps, Command and Army headquarters.
The officer commanded an infantry division on the Line of Control and also headed the Rashtriya Indian Military College during his career.
Prior to taking up this appointment, he was additional director general (Financial Planning) at the Army headquarters.
