Major fashion retailer closes its only Scottish store

An iconic fashion store has closed its only location in Scotland.

Diesel, an Italian contemporary fashion company known for its jeans, is no longer trading on Buchanan Street.

In a sign posted to the front of the shop, the company thanked customers "for the memories".

The permanent closure of Diesel comes just two weeks after stationary giant Paperchase fell into administration, closing all of its Glasgow stores.

The nearest Diesel store for customers is in Manchester.

The sign read: "Thanks for the memories, we will miss you too.

"Our Glasgow store is permanently closed.

"If you didn't have the opportunity to pay us a last visit, you can still shop with us in one of our nearby stores or check out diesel.com for the latest updates."

Customers with items to return to the shop are instructed to call Diesel's client services.

They wrote: "If you have an item to return, our Client Services is available by phone Monday to Saturday, or you can simply send us a message using the Contact Us form.

"You can contact customer service by calling the toll-free number 0 8002606687 from 9am to 8pm CET (8am to 7pm GMT), Monday to Saturday, excluding national holidays."
