A MAJOR emergency operation is underway on the River Tay.
The alarm was raised just before 2am on Monday, according to the Courier.
Broughty Ferry lifeboat was launched, with a coastguard search and rescue helicopter then arriving at the scene around 4.15am.
Firefighters were also called at around 2am, although the nature of the incident has yet to be confirmed.
A spokesperson for HM Coastguard said: “I can confirm we are involved in an ongoing incident at Wormit.
“We can’t give out any further information at this stage.”
A spokesperson from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We got a call at 2am and sent one appliance from Tayport to the scene.
“No further information at this stage is available.
“This is an ongoing police incident.”
Police Scotland has been contacted for more information.
