Major Edinburgh city centre road closed as emergency services rush to scene

Emergency services have rushed to a scene in Edinburgh's city centre on Friday (December 23) night.

The Scottish and Fire Rescue service received a call at 7.43pm tonight after a fire broke out in a building on Lauriston Street, Edinburgh.

Four appliances have rushed to the scene, as have police officers. Currently Lauriston Street and High Riggs have been taped off preventing public and traffic from passing through.

As of 8.45, the incident is still ongoing. No fatalities have been confirmed.

Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
