
Major disruption is expected on rail services between Streatham and Tulse Hill following reports a person was hit by a train earlier today.
Southern services between East Croydon, Selhurst and London Bridge have been impacted, as well as Thameslink services between Sutton, Bedford, St Albans, Horsham, Peterborough, Brighton, Three Bridges and Bedford.
It comes following reports that a person was hit by a train earlier today which led to an immediate investigation, National Rail said.
Lines have now reopened, as no evidence of the incident was found, but disruption is expected to last until 10pm.
A spokesperson for National Rail said: “There were reports that a person had been hit by a train earlier today.
“All lines were shut in the Streatham area whilst this was investigated, however, no evidence of the incident was found and the lines have reopened.
“Southern and Thameslink have begun to recover their service but there will be ongoing delays, alterations and cancellations whilst they work to get their crew and trains back to their working timetable.”
Customers have been advised to allow an extra 15 minutes before travel and to check station screens for the latest information.
Ongoing delays, cancellations and alterations to services are expected and there will be a reduced service between St Albans and Sutton.
Tickets are being accepted on London buses, trams between East Croydon and Wimbledon and the London Underground.
