Major Celtic injury blow as Carter-Vickers among three out against Aston Villa

Cameron Carter-Vickers has been ruled out for Celtic against Aston Villa.

The centre-back will not feature in the Champions League tie due to injury.

Brendan Rodgers has confirmed the USA internationalist picked up a niggle in the win over Young Boys last week.

However, the defender could return at the weekend with Carter-Vickers sitting out as a precaution with "no need to risk him".

James Forrest remains out injured for Celtic with Daizen Maeda suspended after being shown a red card last week.

Rodgers confirmed: "Cameron Carter-Vickers is out for the game. He'll be okay for the weekend, we are pretty sure.

"But he just felt something in the last game so there's no need to risk him.

"James is still out. But apart from that we are okay."
