Major car retailer closes Scottish showroom after 30 years in business

A MAJOR car retailer has closed down one of its Scottish showrooms after almost 30 years in business.

Arnold Clark announced its Dundee showroom on East Dock Street would be shutting its doors although no jobs have been lost.

The firm, which has over 200 branches across the UK, has been selling cars from the Vauxhall branch for 27 years.

The company told The Courier earlier this year that it was planning to close the East Dock Street showroom.

It has since been officially confirmed the showroom is closing down for good as part of a “consolidation” of all Arnold Clark brands into one showroom.

No jobs have been lost as all staff have been moved to other Arnold Clark branches throughout the area.

The firm has other dealerships throughout Dundee, including ones on Kingsway and Balfield Road.

A statement from Arnold Clark said: “Arnold Clark can confirm the closure of the Dundee Vauxhall branch on East Dock Street.

“Our employees have relocated to other Arnold Clark branches in the area. Customers will receive the same quality service they’ve become accustomed to at Arnold Clark Dundee on Balfield Road.”
