Major bombshells from Prince Harry's Today interview - Queen's protection to new home

It's been two years since they left the royals and a year since their famous interview with Oprah Winfrey, but it looks like the bombshells will keep on coming from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Ahead of the Duke of Sussex's upcoming book, which is set to "shake the royals to the core", he chatted to NBC's The Today show about his recent visit to the Queen.

The couple secretly met with the Queen and Prince Charles on a trip to the UK at Windsor Castle last week.

During their chat, they told the monarch that she would be able to meet her great-grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet, "in the near future".

They did not meet Prince William, who is believed to be on a skiing holiday in the French Alps this week with wife Kate and their three children – although they were aware of Harry and Meghan’s visit.

In an interview airing on Wednesday, Harry lifted the lid on how his meeting with the Queen went and why he's happy living in the US...

Prince Harry wants to make sure Queen is protected

One of Prince Harry's most telling remarks in the interview was regarding his visit to the Queen.

The Duke of Sussex claimed he is making sure the Queen has "the right people around her" to "protect" her

Harry told the host of his joy at being back in his grandmother's company and revelled in making her laugh.

He said: "Being with her, it was great.

"It was just so nice to see her … She’s on great form. She's always got a great sense of humour with me and I'm just making sure she's protected and got the right people around her."

The host went on to tell Harry how it's common knowledge he has a habit of making the Queen laugh and asked if he was able to again.

With a smile on his face, he nodded as he responded: "Yes, I did. Both Meghan and I had tea with her and it was really nice to catch up with her."

Dig at the UK as he says he's settled into millionaire celeb community

Prince Harry also said that he has settled into life as a celeb in the US, revealing that the millionaire community has been "great" to himself and wife Meghan.

The Duke of Sussex appeared to make a dig at the UK as he said that they had been "welcomed with open arms".

After stepping down as senior royals in 2020, the couple moved to their £11m mansion in Montecito, California, to gain a new life of financial and personal freedom.

He said: "Home for me now, for the time being, is in the States and it feels that way.

“We’ve been welcomed with open arms and have such a great community up in Santa Barbara.”

Prince Harry's Today show interview airs on Wednesday.
