Major bank sites crash including Lloyds and Barclays

Customers of some of the country's biggest banking sites have begun to report being locked out of their accounts this morning.

Issues have been reported at multiple banks including Barclays, Bank of Scotland, Halifax, Lloyds, HSBC, Santander, Nationwide, NatWest, and Yorkshire Bank. Customers are reporting they are unable to transfer funds, or access online banking or mobile banking apps.

Reports of problems came flooding in at around 6am today when many customers tried accessing their accounts online. Some customers have reported their problems on social media, the Mirror reports.

One Santander customer said: "I can't get through to Santander - where's my money gone?" Meanwhile, a NatWest customer said: "Are there issues with the app? Transferred money at 7am for food shopping, and it still hasnt arrived in my account."

It appears that some of the banks are currently working on fixing their online services. Santander's customer service account replied to one user on Twitter, saying: "Hi there, sorry to hear about this. We’re currently experiencing issues with making and receiving Faster Payments.

"We're very sorry for the inconvenience this is causing and we’re working hard to fix the problem. Other payment services are unaffected."
