Maisie Smith talks 'beautiful' musical theatre debut alongside Strictly co-star

Former EastEnders and Strictly Come Dancing star Maisie Smith has revealed all on her musical theatre debut, alongside a familiar face.

Kevin Clifton confirmed earlier this year that he and Maisie would co-star in Craig Revel Horwood's directed show, Strictly Ballroom the Musical.

Maisie appeared on The One Show on Tuesday with Kevin and Craig, following the news she had signed up to Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.

The Tiffany Butcher actress, who is reportedly dating The Wanted's Max George, who she took part in Strictly with in 2020, spilled all on her looming theatre debut.

Speaking to the hosts, she said of her singing: "I have always loved writing songs, but this is a completely different kettle of fish.

"The music is phenomenal, the songs are beautiful and we have got some really lovely duets and I feel like it is going quite well. I am enjoying it."

Max and Maisie have yet to speak on their apparent relationship and have avoided posting each other on social media.

They were pictured kissing and packing on the PDA this month, with them thought to have headed off on holiday together too.

Maisie will be seen alongside Ferne McCann, Calum Best, Ashley Cain, Pete Wicks and a whole list of other famous faces on the new series of SAS.

Speaking ahead of the series, Maisie spilled that one moment saw her and Ferne forced to go head-to-head in a catfight.

She was also nicknamed Tiny Temper by a director after the fight, while Maisie also spilled that an incident left her with two black eyes.

She told The Sun : "Literally when I came out of the show my thighs were still dark purple for two weeks, they were still dark purple just from falling onto water from a height.

"I hit it so hard that the medic had to check I hadn’t broken my eye sockets."

Of her fight with Ferne, she added: "They went, 'Go,' and I wasn’t expecting her to just go crazy. But she literally just went, 'Agh,' and just screamed. I think she shut her eyes, screamed and just went crazy.

"I thought, 'OK. I need to step up my game'. I was going for a solid minute with just screaming and punching, like a proper cat fight.

"I got a couple of good punches in. It wasn’t like a normal boxing ring. It was nonstop."

The One Show airs weeknights at 7pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
