Maisie Smith and Max George 'spark tense atmosphere' on Strictly Ballroom tour

Maisie Smith and beau Max George are said to have created a tense atmosphere on the Strictly Ballroom tour.

The pair, who have been officially coupled-up since the summer, first met on Strictly Come Dancing two years ago and have since become inseparable.

However, it's claimed the new romance is causing a divide during the tour as the duo continue to isolate themselves from the group.

The EastEnders actress, 21, and The Wanted singer, 34, are said to be spending every moment together when Maisie isn't performing. They are even said to have stayed in an Airbnb outside of town for the Sunderland show, while the rest of the cast stayed more central.

A source told The Sun : "Maisie and Max are in the first throes of romance and just wanted to spend all their time together. Max headed to Sunderland with Maisie last week and she rushed to be with him every night after being on stage.

"Everyone gets on but they are slightly bemused by her absence because there has been lots of socialising, which she just hasn’t been part of."

The source added that the actress has missed a lunch for pro dancer Kevin Clifton's birthday, choosing to spend time with her man instead. And they said Maisie still doesn't follow the other dancers social media pages, but is hopeful she "warms up to them all soon" with months of the tour still to go.

She is set to tour until March 2023 as she plays the role of Fran in the musical, which is directed by Kevin and Craig Revel Horwood.

The Mirror has contacted Maisie's representatives for comment.

Maisie opened up on her budding romance at the weekend after completing Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins. Speaking to The Sun on Sunday, she said: "I came out of the show feeling so strong and so confident.

"And being more confident now, I allowed myself to open up and speak to Max about the feelings I did have about myself and how I feel about myself now.

"So now he really knows me, which is really nice. He knows me entirely. There are no feelings that I’ve kept inside, which is a weight off my shoulders. It feels amazing to know that when someone loves you they know every bit about you — the good and the bad. That’s what love is really."
