A road closure will be put in place this evening ahead of a vigil to mark the lives of three people who died after a car crash on the A48. Cardiff Council announced on social media that the A48 eastbound off slip to Cypress Drive roundabout will be closed from 6pm on Tuesday, March 7. The council said that the road will not re-open again until it is safe to do so. Eve Smith, 21, Darcy Ross, 21, and Rafel Jeanne, 24, died after the car they were in crashed off the A48 near St Mellons in Cardiff.
Two others who were also in the car, Shane Loughlin, 32, and Sophie Russon, 20, remain in a critical condition at the University Hospital of Wales. The five people in the vehicle, a Volkswagen Tiguan, were last seen in the Llanedeyrn area of Cardiff at 2am on Saturday. The car wasn't found until just after midnight on Monday.

Eve Smith, Darcy Ross and Sophie Russon had been at the Muffler bar and club in Maesglas, Newport, on Friday evening before they are thought to have made their way towards Trecco Bay in Porthcawl. Assistant Chief Constable Mark Hoborough of Gwent Police said: “This is an extremely sad situation, and our thoughts are with the families and friends of each of the young people involved.
"We will continue to support the investigation and would ask members of the public to refrain from speculation during this period.” Flowers and tributes have been laid in their dozens along the roundabout near where the car was discovered.
Gwent Police said they are continuing their investigation to determine the circumstances around the road traffic accident, including the exact time it took place. They added that at this stage, they believe only one vehicle was involved in the crash.
