Mail Voting Begins In Key States With Varying Rules

Mail voting is underway in the key state of Wisconsin as counties have started sending out ballots to voters who have requested them. In Alabama, absentee ballots are now available, despite the state's general discouragement of early voting.

It's important to note that each state has its own set of rules and deadlines regarding mail-in ballots. Some states require ballots to be in the hands of election officials before polls close, while others will accept ballots postmarked before Election Day, even if they arrive after the election.

Early voting in Minnesota, South Dakota, and Virginia begins on September 20.

Early voting will commence on September 20 in Minnesota, South Dakota, and Virginia. By September 21, all states must begin sending ballots to military and overseas voters. In-person early voting will become more widely available later in September in states where it is an option.
