Maik Nawrocki to Celtic latest as Legia 'set  €5m transfer valuation'

Celtic are reportedly in a transfer tug-of-war to sign Polish defender Maik Nawrocki.

It's claimed the 22-year-old could head to Parkhead this summer.

Reports in his homeland have suggested it's a matter of time before Nawrocki makes a move away from Legia.

However, Celtic could face competition to land the defender who is also reportedly a target for Galatasaray.

Now, Super Express Sport reports that Legia will hold out for a €5million (£4.3m) transfer fee for Nawrocki.

Legia boss Kosta Runjaic has already admitted the defender is set to leave the club.

He said: "You can expect Maik Nawrocki to leave our club soon.

"The information has already leaked out, there is a serious offer on the table, but for now these are internal consultations."

And Nawrocki conceded his future was unclear last week, adding: “I don’t know anything about my future yet. It’s definitely not something I’m nervous about.

“Maybe I’ll find out a bit more soon.”

Meanwhile, Celtic’s Liam Shaw is 'closing in' on a move to Wigan Athletic, according to reports.

The 22-year-old midfielder is close to a move to the Latics, as reported by Wigan Today, who are managed by former Celtic player and coach Shaun Maloney.

Shaw joined the Scottish champions in 2021 from Sheffield Wednesday, making his debut against Real Betis in the Europa League in December of that year. However, the player has found first-team opportunities hard to come by, making only one further appearance for Celtic since that game, in a 0-0 draw with St Mirren later that month.

This has led the midfielder to go out on loan on two occasions to Motherwell and Morecambe respectively. He made seven appearances in all competitions for the Steelmen in the second half of the 2021/22 season, before making 39 appearances for the Shimps.

Unfortunately, he was not able to keep the Lancashire side in League One, after finishing the season in 22nd place last season. However, he looks set for a quick return to the same league, as Maloney continues to shape his team following Wigan’s relegation from the Championship last season.
