A self-proclaimed 'selfish' bride has admitted that she needs to make ruthless decisions ahead of her wedding day. The woman has savagely kicked out her pregnant friend from the bridal party but is unfazed by the decision and is prepared to willingly 'live with the consequences'.
Admitting she 'needs to be selfish', the bride is fearful that her best friend will 'flake' out on the wedding plans last minute. Taking to popular forum Reddit, the bride's maid of honour explained that the bride is 'mad' that the pregnant pal hasn't 'communicated' properly about her plans.
The wedding party member anonymously explained: "I am the maid of honour for a wedding scheduled for September 2023. Six months into planning the wedding, and with still six months to go, the bride this week kicked out a pregnant friend from the wedding party."
The woman explained that the bridesmaid is currently 'six months pregnant' and is due to have her baby at the end of June.
She's relocating to her hometown prior to the due date to have 'familiar support once the baby comes'. However, she has assured she'll be in the area in time for the wedding.
The maid of honour explained: "Apparently, the bride is mad that she is moving away to have the baby because she didn't communicate this to the bride until after she had told the other bridesmaids and won't be around to help with further wedding details (like stuffing the invitation envelopes and picking out the table arrangements).
"Despite the bridesmaid insisting multiple times that she was planning to move back to town six weeks before the wedding, the bride is absolutely convinced that she will flake and not show up for the wedding. The bride kept saying, 'well what happens if the baby gets sick?' like we didn't just live through a pandemic where anybody could get sick.
"The bride said that this bridesmaid has already flaked out on other wedding events, so she'll likely flake on the wedding too. For context, the two events this bridesmaid missed are one of the catering tastings (because her grandfather died that week) and the bachelorette trip (because the bride insisted on having it).
"This bridesmaid has gone to every other event, including two dress appointments, a different catering tasting, and the engagement party, where she showed up hours early to help set up and brought all the catered food.
"The bride has insisted that she 'needs to be selfish right now' and even called the pregnant one selfish because she claims that the bridesmaid has made the whole planning process about her and being pregnant.
The woman went on: "The bride has said that she is willing to live with the consequences of her choice, aka losing the friendship over this situation, despite being friends with this bridesmaid longer than any of the other bridesmaids."
"The bride won't listen to any of the other bridesmaids about how ridiculous and rude she is being," she added.
Since sharing her post, the woman's thread has raked in over 100 comments.
Taking to the comment section, one person questioned: "You are the maid of honour? Can I ask why you are friends with this person?"
The Reddit user responded: "Yes, I'm the maid of honour, and I'm friends with the bride because she has never acted like this before and I never would have expected her to act this way. That’s what makes the whole situation baffling!"
Meanwhile, someone else said: "Wow...um...I'd drop out of the wedding party. The bride is right, she is selfish. I'd drop her as a friend permanently."
