NAVI MUMBAI: The APMC police on Saturday booked the public relationship officer (PRO) of Ulhasnagar municipal corporation for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman in Navi Mumbai.
In her complaint, the 29-year-old alleged that the official sexually assaulted her at a lodge in Turbhe area of Navi Mumbai, after assuring her a job in the civic body.
The accused has been identified as Yuvraj Bhadane.
As per the FIR by the Ulhasnagar resident, in November 2021, around 5.30pm, Bhadane took her in a white-coloured car to a lodge near Turbhe railway station. He assured her that he would get her job application form sanctioned if she satisfied his sexual urge and allegedly sexually assaulted her without her consent.
Meanwhile, on February 22, the accused was booked by Central police station in Ulhasnagar under relevant IPC sections for cheating and forgery after he allegedly submitted his fake birth certificate and secured a job in UMC. Since then, the accused is on the run and the police have launched a search for him, informed the Ulhasnagar police.
The FIR was registered against him after the enquiry committee found that Bhadane, who was working since 2003, had submitted his fake birth certificate and obtained a job in the UMC. After verification, it was revealed that Bhadane's birth certificate states that he was born on June 1, 1972. However, the enquiry committee initiated by UMC found that his original birth date was June 1, 1970.
In the FIR, the UMC also claimed that Bhadane had also submitted a fake PhD degree for securing the job.
