MUMBAI: Chief minister Uddhav Thackeray interacted with party MLAs at his official residence, on Monday evening in a morale-boosting exercise ahead of the Rajya Sabha elections.
Some independent MLAs backing the Sena were also present. Thackeray told Shiv Sena legislators that the MVA government will “comfortably” complete the remaining 2.5 years of its term and that they need not harbour any misgivings.
Thackeray said the MLAs should vote to send an ordinary, but “loyal Shiv Sainik” (Sanjay Pawar) who was the party’s district unit chief in Kolhapur to the Rajya Sabha. He said the MVA has the numbers and must vote to win. The candidate, Sanjay Pawar, and Sena MP Sanjay Raut were also present.
Sena leaders said Thackeray may hold a meeting of all Maha Vikas Aghadi MLAs on Tuesday at a South Mumbai hotel to finalise a strategy and brief them. This meeting will also be a show of strength ahead of the polls.— Chaitanya Marpakwar
