Magpies deny culture issue after Crisp's leaked video

Collingwood football boss Graham Wright has distanced Jack Crisp's "historical" leaked video from teammate Jack Ginnivan's drug scandal to defend the club's culture and decision not to suspend him.

The dual club best and fairest will front the AFL next week after a video circulated on social media with references to illicit drugs.

The midfielder has been cleared to play against Brisbane at a sold-out Gabba on Thursday night by the Magpies and the AFL, a day after the video became public knowledge.

The video shows a person scrolling through several screenshots of Snapchats, many clearly showing Crisp's bearded face.

Several of the photos appear to show illicit substances.

The last two images are explicit and shows a man standing, but his face is not visible.

"From what we can gather it is a historic video, one from a number of years ago," Wright said.

But there has been no confirmation of how old the content is, or whether those graphic images are of Crisp.

Collingwood were forced to deal with a drugs scandal involving young gun Jack Ginnivan during the pre-season.

Ginnivan was banned for the first two rounds of the season after being filmed taking an illicit substance in the cubicle of a nightclub and is yet to break back into the AFL side.

Wright said the two issues could not be linked, citing the historical nature of Crisp's as the reason he wasn't suspended.

"Two completely different situations," he said.

"I'm not (concerned about a cultural issue). It's a historical video, one from a while ago and separate to Jack Ginnivan."

Crisp has played an extraordinary 191 consecutive games dating back to round 18, 2014 when he was with the Lions.

The games streak is comfortably the most by a current player, well ahead of Melbourne star Christian Petracca (110), and Crisp is equal-seventh on the all-time list.

"He's a high quality young man ... he's an important player for us but obviously we're concerned about him and his well-being and his family," Wright said.

"If he didn't want to play, we wouldn't have played him.

"But he was really keen to play, from a coaching and club perspective we wanted him to play and needed to tick that box with the AFL."
