There’s one thing people look forward to after Christmas. Apart from all the food, outdoor walks in the winter are always welcome.
Leeds residents are spoilt with choices from Roundhay Park, Forest Chevin Park and Temple Newsam Park.
Temple Newsam Park is surrounded by lakes, gardens, and woods on 1,500 acres of land. It looks good in both summer and even better in winter covered by snow.

For animal lovers, during the winter the farm is open from Tuesday to Sunday, and there’s also a café where you can pick up hot drinks and some food.
Latest reviews from visitors on TripAdvisor praise the park’s nature walk and its “truly magnificent” historic houses.
Rob H said: “Superb house. Beautifully decorated for Christmas. This was our first visit to the house, we have visited the gardens before. We had a guided tour of the house undertaken by Mehdi who made our visit all the more enjoyable. Mehdi was able to answer all our questions, had a knowledge about the family history and house history. Thank you for making our visit so enjoyable.”
Jodie S said: “I’ve visited Temple Newsam on many occasions since I was a kid and i've always had a great time from race for life, party in the park, festivals, the farm, the house or just the nature trail.
“Temple Newsam has always been clean, there's always been staff around, its never too busy but always people around.
“I enjoy the nature walk there as its just so peaceful and so big like it goes on forever so if your wanting to make a day of it I would 100% recommend the nature walk or the farm for the little ones.”
Anne W said: “A lovely couple of hours spent walking around the grounds, and house and having a bite to eat. The house had lots of treasures to view and they were well presented in the impressive property.”
Keith S added: “We visited last Tuesday on a day of torrential rain. This didn't spoil our experience one bit. The guide was friendly, knowledgeable, accommodating and full of stories about the place and all it contains. What an amazing job the recent curators have done in trying to re-assemble as much of the original furniture, paintings etc as possible. I loved the one hour tour but I would also like to spend longer here which we will do in the Spring. We visit many many historic houses, museums and galleries and this is perhaps our top of the list. Truly magnificent.”
