Aberdeenshire beach named one of the best winter walks in the whole of the UK
St Cyrus in Aberdeenshire was the beach in Scotland named among the best winter seaside walks in the whole of the UK by The Times newspaper.
Discussing the beach, the publication said the spot, which is just north of Montrose, is the perfect place to hunt for sea glass (pieces of polished glass debris that look like tumbled stones).
It added that visitors will spot them soon after arriving at the National Nature Reserve car park.
In terms of wildlife along the mile-and-a-half stretch of shore, there is a lot to see, including roe deer and otters.
Visitors have been told to look out for a steep path that arises when the sands end and to follow it to the top, while keeping their eyes peeled for peregrine falcons, before taking the cliff path back to the car park.
At the end of this three-mile stroll is tea and cake in the popular Beach Café eatery.
The location has also received praise from visitors on Tripadvisor with users giving the beach a 5/5 out of 38 reviews.
