Eddie Howe says it is "not healthy" to place timescales on success as he tries to take Newcastle United to phase two of the club's takeover plan.
Toon supremo Yasir Al-Rumayyan sent an open letter to supporters on the eve of the takeover anniversary and spoke of "long-term" vision. Howe is keen to remain part of that but when asked about the club's long wait to get back into Europe - which has now stretched past the decade mark - the United chief made his views clear on the road ahead.
Howe told Chronicle Live: "I want to manage this club for a long time, but I can't put timescales on things - it's not healthy. Our journey could go one of two ways this season. From my experience, magical things can happen if you work hard and everything clicks."
As things stand, Newcastle are already sitting in a Europa Conference League spot. But Howe knows the hard work is only just beginning in reality.
With Howe approaching his first year in charge and on the back of the takeover anniversary, he reflected: "The club's come a long way. That positivity is still there.
"It's a difficult thing to keep and everyone behind the scenes has done a very good job in putting the building blocks in place for what the club needs for long-term success."
