Free agent guard Michael Carter-Williams reportedly signed a two-year contract with the Magic on Sunday, per The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
Carter-Williams hasn’t played since the 2020–21 season, having undergone ankle surgery to begin last season. He ended up sitting out the entirety of the 2021–22 season and hasn’t yet played this season, either.
The 31-year-old guard was on the Magic’s roster from 2019–21. In the 2020–21 season, he played in 31 games with 25 starts, averaging 8.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists in 25.8 minutes.
Carter-Williams was selected 11th overall in the 2013 NBA draft by the 76ers, for whom he played just 1 1/2 seasons. He earned the 2013–14 NBA Rookie of the Year honors with Philadelphia.
Carter-Williams subsequently played for the Bucks, Bulls, Hornets and Rockets before joining the Magic in 2019.
The Magic (25-36) currently sits in 13th place in the Eastern Conference. Carter-Williams will become the oldest member on the Orlando roster at age 31.
