The Washington Commanders introduced part of their new ownership group at FedEx Field Friday, led by majority owner Josh Harris.
Team president Jason Wright introduced Harris, while head coach Ron Rivera and co-owners Mitchell Rales and Earvin “Magic” Johnson also spoke.
Johnson, a five-time NBA champion and a Hall of Famer, also happens to be a highly successful businessman. Outside of the multiple businesses he has opened nationwide, he’s also invested in sports teams. And the sports teams he’s invested in win.
Johnson recounted when he first spoke to Harris about being a part of his ownership group for the Commanders, and he asked Harris: “Do you want to win?”
How did Harris respond? “Yes,” of course.
Johnson replied, “I’m in.”
The best part: “I don’t invest in sports teams to just….for ego…I invest to win.”
“I don’t just invest in sports teams for [my] ego… I invest to win.”
