Fans were stunned earlier this year when it was revealed that NBA legend — and successful businessman — Earvin “Magic” Johnson would be a part of Josh Harris’ ownership group.
When outgoing owner Daniel Snyder and Harris reached an agreement in May, Magic couldn’t contain his excitement on Twitter.
On Thursday, Harris’ purchase of the Commanders for $6.05 billion became official. That meant Johnson, who is part owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers, the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks and Los Angeles FC of MLS, is now an NFL owner.
As expected, Magic was excited and took to Twitter to express his excitement to be a part of Harris’ ownership group and the plans they had to give the fan base and DMV community “fanbase to bring a winning team and best in class organization.”

If you grew up in the glory days of the then-Washington Redskins and were an NBA fan, you either loved Magic, Larry Bird, or Michael Jordan. Now, one of that trio of NBA legends is part owner of the Washington NFL franchise.
