The Los Angeles Lakers pulled off one of the most stunning trades in NBA history over the weekend when they sent Anthony Davis to Dallas in return for Luka Doncic.
LeBron James and Co. will now team up with the 25-year-old guard who led the Mavericks to the NBA Finals last year and has shown during his young career that he is indeed a franchise player.
Lakers great Magic Johnson was fired up after hearing the news on Sunday and he shared his feelings about the move in a number of tweets. In one, he compared the trade to when the Los Angeles Dodgers signed Shohei Ohtani in free agency.
"Luka Doncic going to the Lakers is amazing for the NBA, just like Shohei Ohtani was when we signed him to the Dodgers!," Magic tweeted. "I want to congratulate Lakers Owner Jeanie Buss and GM Rob Pelinka for bringing Luka Doncic to LA to play for our beloved Lakers!"
He added that he can't wait to watch LeBron and Doncic play together:
"You know I love assists, and with LeBron and Luka teaming up, I get to watch two of the best passers that have ever played on the same team! I can hardly wait to see Luka in a Lakers jersey in Crypto arena! Laker Nation, get ready!"
