The Golden State Warriors could be active in trade discussions as the Feb. 8 trade deadline draws closer. The current roster has struggled throughout the first half of the season; multiple key players have failed to play to their usual level. As such, a potential personnel change could be the key to revitalizing Steve Kerr‘s team.
Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson believes the Warriors are one of the Western Conference teams that need to make a move to turn their fortunes around. Johnson posted his opinion on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Looking at the Western Conference, I think the World Champion Nuggets, the Clippers, the Timberwolves, and the Thunder don’t need a trade,” Johnson wrote. “The Lakers, the Pelicans, the Suns, the Mavericks, the Warriors and the Kings definitely need to make some trades before the deadline!”
Golden State has multiple tradable assets at its disposal. Andrew Wiggins and Chris Paul are seen as the most likely trade candidates heading into the deadline. Both are capable veterans who could improve another team while securing the Warriors an impact player in return.

It will be interesting to see whether Mike Dunleavy Jr. chooses to be an active participant in trade discussions over the next few weeks or whether he chooses to stand pat and take a bigger look at a potential overhaul during the summer.
