Magaluf police to step up patrols in Easter crackdown after string of incidents

Police are expected to step up patrols in Magaluf over the Easter break following a string of incidents last weekend.

Hull Live reports that several bars were cautioned by authorities in the popular tourist spot in Majorca for breaches of Covid rules.

One bar also had its sound system confiscated after it was found to be breaking noise levels in the area.

There was also a number of violent incidents involving local youths and a group from the neighbouring Palma.

Authorities now have concerns that the number of incidents could increase when thousands of tourists from the UK descend over Easter.

The local government and police have already implemented strict rules on bars and drinks offers in a bid to prevent drunken behaviour.

Party booze cruises, all you can drink deals and pub crawls are among the events to have been banned in the area.

Limits have also been imposed on the number of alcoholic drinks permitted at all-inclusive hotels in certain parts of Magaluf.

Bikinis have been banned and away from the beach and shirt must also be worn when on the streets.

Revellers have also been warned that they face fines if they are found to be in breach of the new local laws.

A number of airlines have already issued pre-departure warnings to tourists heading to party resorts to remind them of the restrictions.

The new rules were imposed by local authorities prior to the pandemic, but this upcoming season is expected to be the first year tourists feel the impact.
