After a devastating week on Married At First Sight (MAFS), intruder couple Teejay Halkias and Beth Kelly have spilled a buttload of piping hot tea about each other in separate interviews, including whether or not the groom was on the show for fame.
Homestays Week has been quite the doozy for the 2025 intruder couple. To give you a quick recap on everything Beth and Teejay, the bride has expressed her concerns over Teejay’s attraction to her in recent weeks, dishing to the experts that they hadn’t been intimate since their honeymoon.
Teejay then relayed that in order for him to initiate physical intimacy, he needed to build that emotional connection.
But after a tense Commitment Ceremony, Beth and Teejay’s relationship was looking up after the bride revealed that the pair had done the deed ahead of Homestays Week. But things came crashing down when Teejay couldn’t answer if he would continue the relationship outside of MAFS.
The confession completely sent Beth into a tizzy, who said she was “blindsided” by Teejay’s “switch” during Wednesday night’s Dinner Party.
Honestly, the whole situation gave us major déjà vu considering that Dave Hand and Jamie Marinos were going through the very same thing a week before.
Well after a week of being at the centre of MAFS drama, the pair have since spoken out in separate interviews about their terrible, terrible Homestays Week, with Teejay admitting that he regrets being intimate with Beth.
Why does Married At First Sight‘s Teejay Halkias regret being intimate with Beth Kelly?
Speaking to Chattr, the former Big Brother contestant admitted it was “the wrong decision” to be physical intimate with his ‘wife’ ahead of Homestays Week, especially after their big chat about attraction and connection issues on the ouch couch.
“Watching it back now, I think it was definitely the wrong decision [to have sex with Beth],” he told the publication before revealing he thought he had a “green light” to sleep with Beth after she claimed in her confessions letter task that she didn’t need an “emotional connection” for a “sexual interaction”.
“I definitely don’t think that I should have even put forward the idea,” he continued.
“But, you know, I’m on the experiment to learn. I’m a human. I’m not perfect, and that’s all I can do, is learn from these things.”
Why did Married At First Sight‘s Teejay Halkias switch up on Beth Kelly?
During his chat with the online publication, Teejay addressed the criticism surrounding his big switch up on Beth, stating that he “just wasn’t growing these deeper feelings” for his assigned wife.
“I wasn’t sure why, Beth is a fantastic person, absolutely incredible,” he dished.
“I had three options there. I could have been honest, which I was, or I could have lied, or I could have been diplomatic the entire time. I stayed true to myself and I was honest with how I felt to Beth.
“Unfortunately, you know, no one wins in that situation. That was so shit for me. I’d never wanted to hurt Beth or hurt her feelings or anything like that. So having to tell Beth that [I wasn’t sure about our future] was uncomfortable for me.”

Was Teejay Halkias on Married At First Sight for the fame?
During his big switch up on Homestays Week, fans accused Teejay of being on MAFS for the fame due to his history on Big Brother Australia.
When asked if he was there for exposure rather than love, the groom immediately dismissed the idea, stating he “would have been weeded out” during the audition process.
“There’s no reason that just because I was on Big Brother doesn’t mean I don’t deserve the opportunity to find love. I think that there are many other people that have been on shows prior to them going on other shows,” he shared.

However, in a separate interview with Chattr, Beth said she didn’t really know what Teejay’s intentions were on MAFS. However, she did express that she feels “played” by the former BBAU housemate.
“I don’t really know if he did come on for genuine reasons, or if he did come on [for] fame, I’m not sure, but just the way he’s gone about it, I just feel extremely disrespected,” she shared before adding that she was on MAFS for “the right reasons”.
“I do feel a bit played and strung along, whether that was for his own fame or not, I don’t know.”
With that bitterness in those recent interviews, something tells me that this couple does not make it beyond the lights, camera and Commitment Ceremony.
However, there is one week left of MAFS. There’s time for another twist, I guess?
Married At First Sight returns on Sunday on Channel Nine and 9Now.
