Married At First Sight bride Morena Farina hasn’t had the best MAFS experience. From being portrayed as a woman who filibusters her on-screen husband Tony Mojanovski to having to sit at a table with a bunch of people in their late twenties for hours on end, this week, we’ve truly seen the 57-year-old DJ reach the end of her tether. However, Morena has revealed that we’re not seeing the half of it.
In an interview on Abbie Chatfield‘s podcast It’s A Lot, Morena claimed that behind closed doors her relationship with Tony was going south. And, at one point, she claims a producer had to step in to make him apologise after he made a rude comment about her appearance.
“I said, ‘Tony, I need you to take a photo of me.’ And he said, ‘You got the look of a S-L-U-T’, and I said, ‘I beg your pardon?’” Morena explained.
“He then took my photo. A producer was there. She made him apologise to me.”
In the interview, Morena slammed her portrayal on the show and said that it wasn’t accurate to what really went down. Her biggest issue was with her pairing with Tony by producers.
“I said I don’t want a smoker. I don’t want someone who’s cheated and I don’t date married men,” she said.
“By then giving me a married man, that goes against all my beliefs. They knew that would upset me but I ruined their filming because I didn’t react.”
She claimed that not only did Tony make it clear that he was still in love with his ex-wife, but that she did give him a chance to speak following the session the blokes had with sexologist Alessandra Rampolla.
“I let him talk. And then I said to him, so what did the other boys talk about? And he said to me ‘I don’t want to talk about it’,” Morena explained.
“I said ‘why’? And he said, ‘Because it’s private’. So everyone else knew what happened with Jacqui and Ryan except for me.”
When it comes to reality shows like MAFS, it’s important to read between the lines. During the scene with Tony or the dinner party this week, we saw Morena with a lot of built-up anger and frustration. Emotion like that doesn’t come from thin air — even if we don’t see its origins.
Morena isn’t the only MAFS star unhappy with the edit. According to insiders, a whole heap of scenes from the last commitment ceremony were scrapped, painting a very different picture to what really happened.
So, no matter what your opinion of Morena is from the show, take what you’re seeing with a grain of salt because we never know what truly goes down.
