While I’d admit that Sunday night’s Commitment Ceremony wasn’t as explosive as last week’s, I will say that I’m still devastated over Dave Hand‘s switch-up on Jamie Marinos.
This article contains Married At First Sight (MAFS) spoilers. It’s up to you if you wanna stay or leave.
To get you up to speed with everything that’s gone down, one of MAFS‘ strongest couples — Dave and Jamie — are going through a ‘yuuuge rough patch.
You see, Dave appeared to be one of the more emotionally intellectual blokes on MAFS. He not only stood up for Jamie but stood up for the other brides like Jacqui Burfoot during the Ryan Donnelly blowjob comment controversy.
But shortly after Jamie confessed her love for Dave, the self-proclaimed “gentle giant” seemingly pulled back from their relationship.
The sudden switch-up worsened after Feedback Week when the couples were tasked with a partner swap. After spending time with Veronica Cloherty, Dave seemed absent and checked out of his relationship with Jamie.

Unfortunately, the issue boiled over into the hellscape that is the MAFS Dinner Party, and Dave was (rightfully) cooked for his nonchalant behaviour towards his ‘wife’. It even got to a point where Adrian Araouzou and Eliot Donovan suggested that Dave and Veronica had a cheeky attraction during the couple’s swap, which they both denied.
Towards the end of the clusterfuck, Dave apologised to Jamie and swore that he would fight for their relationship after a very shitty week.

Picking up from that shitshow, it appeared that Jamie and Dave stayed in separate apartments ahead of the Commitment Ceremony. But before they left their apartments to make their decisions, Dave went to Jamie’s apartment to sort things out.
“I 100 per cent still question Dave’s feelings,” Jamie shared in a voxie.
“That’s why Dave needs to prove himself. Like knock on my door with flowers, posted notes, write a poem, everything.”
While she hoped for an apology and a clean slate, he came with NOTHING she expected. Instead, Dave began their conversation by telling Jamie about all the things she said that hurt him at the Dinner Party, which unfortunately led to an explosive argument between the fan-favourite pair.
“I just wanna say, last night there was, you did speak to me the worst you spoke to me throughout this whole experiment,” Dave shared as Jamie jerked her head back.
“You said some things to me that hurt me last night as well.”

Jamie went on to reiterate his promise at the Dinner Party, where he said he would fight for her, reminding him to just take accountability for his actions instead of trying to put the blame on her.
“You came in last night, wanting to keep me, wanting to fight for me. Fight for me homeboy, fight for me,” Jamie said.
“Well it just seems like it’s not happening,” Dave replied before Jamie reminded him that it hadn’t been 24 hours since he promised to put effort in.
After calling him out for his Dinner Party bluff, the pair fell into an awkward silence before she began putting Dave’s shit all in the hallway. Right after taking out the trash, Jamie turned to the production crew, revealing that she wouldn’t be writing ‘stay’ on her card.

Rolling onto the Ouch Couch, just like the rest of Australia (and people who are potentially pirating the season from other countries), the MAFS experts explained that they were confused by Dave’s sudden change.
When asked about why he pulled back from his relationship, Dave acknowledged that he sees Jamie’s love not only through her words but through her actions and that he’s “scared” because he’s worried he’s “not enough”.
However, during his spiel, Jamie cut him off and revealed how he acted prior to the ceremony, which was then followed by the iconic dramatic MAFS strings and reactions from the cast.

After a commercial break, MAFS expert Mel Schilling chimed in and called out Dave for his misleading behaviour, even going on to say that he “danced” on the couch the last five times because he was “so happy” with his relationship with Jamie.
“Last night, watching you and seeing the pain Jamie was in, you were detached, you were cold, you didn’t validate her when you could see she was clearly struggling, it appeared as though Jamie was on her own,” Mel said.

When asked why he hasn’t pursued Jamie — something she’s been yearning for — Dave looked like he had a hard time answering, before landing on that he felt like he fell into a pattern of Jamie leading the relationship.
Sexologist Alessandra Rampolla then asked if he had “romantic feelings” for Jamie. Unfortunately, his answer seemed to shock his ‘wife’ and the rest of the cast.
“Yeah, I think I do,” he shared.
“You think? You’re guessing?” Alessandra questioned.

Jamie then unleashes her concerns, admitting that she’s questioning if the last two months were real or a “figment of [her] imagination”.
And then, for round three, daddy John Aiken stepped in with his two cents!!!!
“Hey Dave, do you understand the way you’re behaving to this woman who has given you everything over the past two months, do you have any idea how she’s feeling?” Zaddy John asked Dave.
“When a guy she thinks is 100 per cent committed to her suddenly turns up and is disconnected, detached and uncaring, what do you think that does to her?”
OOOOOOH IF ONLY MY SITUATION SHIT WAS ON THAT DAMN COUCH!!!!! GET HIM GET THEM ALLLLLLLLL.

After the triple dumping on Dave, both Jamie and Dave revealed that they were both staying for another week. However, Dave didn’t leave the ouch couch without another stern talking too.
Zaddy Aiken got one more lick in, urging Dave to do better and be specific in how he’s gonna win Jamie back.
Here’s what MAFS viewers had to say about Jamie and Dave’s time on the ouch couch.
There’s more to the story Dave isn’t, but needs, to share. Out with it, Dave. His silence is incredibly cruel. #MAFSAU #MAFSAustralia #MAFSAUS

I truly hope we get better days for Queen Jamie. It’s what she deserves.
At least we know that a couple of months after that painful Commitment Ceremony she would be getting praised at a Billie Eilish concert in Melbourne. Love that for her.
Married At First Sight returns tomorrow on Channel Nine and 9Now.
