The first week of Married At First Sight has been a mixed bag. For some couples — like Eliot Donovan and Lauren Hall or Tim Gromie and Katie Johnstone — it’s been an absolute shit fight decorated with disappointment. For others, it truly could be the start of something special. But right now, if there was one couple I had to put my money on, it would be Ashleigh Ackerman and Jake Luik.
In case you missed it, Ashleigh is a 34-year-old dance teacher from Queensland while Jake is a high school teacher from Western Australia. Both of whom described themselves as “quirky” to the experts.
Thankfully, that didn’t seem to be the only reason they were paired together because as soon as these two lovebirds laid eyes on each other, sparks were flying. The attraction was there in spades. By the time they met at the altar, the witty albeit dorky back-and-forth was already in action.
Although we only saw their ceremony and not their wedding reception, we did get a cheeky glimpse at the pair sitting in matching robes and slippers during their honeymoon.
Despite the limited moments we’ve seen of the couple, things between them seem incredibly promising. And, considering the dumpster fire happening with many of the other couples, fans online are begging and pleading for a success story (and some lovable characters!) to root for.
While we all love the drama, the real essence of what keeps us watching this god-forsaken show is the actual love stories that do occasionally blossom from the experience.
Let’s cross our fingers and toes Jake and Ashleigh make it and, as Ashleigh said, blow Cam and Jules out of the water!!!
