MAFS Fans Are Celebrating Eliot Donovan’s Dramatic Exit From The Reality TV Show: ‘Bye’

We’re only a few episodes into Married At First Sight (MAFS) and it appears we have our first runaway participant. Thankfully, fans are pleased with the idea of Eliot Donovan‘s absence.

This article contains Married At First Sight spoilers. It’s up to you if you wanna stay or leave.

Season 12 of MAFS has truly been a doozy. As I said earlier, we’re only about three episodes in, and we’ve already had castmates (and their sisters) speak out about the edit and two potential villains.

But what irks me the most is that even after 12 seasons of this reality TV hot mess, it appears that grooms on this show do not know what they’re signing up for, which is to be married… at first sight.

I’m looking at you Eliot and Tim Gromie.

Anyways, to give you a quick recap of Wednesday night’s sook fest, Eliot, 35, has been moping around the whole honeymoon because his MAFS wife, Lauren Hall, 37, doesn’t meet his “non-negotiables”.

You see, when Eliot was first introduced to us, he admitted he was “confident” and was quite picky about the woman he wanted. Well, unfortunately, one of the main concepts of MAFS is that you don’t get to pick and choose, mister man!

Although it would’ve appeared that Eliot and Lauren would’ve been a perfect match, with Lauren wanting that trad wife role in a relationship and this wannabe hunk of spunk wanting a nuclear family, they’re not getting along.

To give you a quick recap on everything Lauren and Eliot — lmao three episodes — basically, the pair both kinda solidified themselves as the antagonists of the season with the way they presented themselves during the bucks and hens night.

Eliot was going on about how he would leave his wife at the alter if she didn’t tick the boxes, and Lauren was lowkey being super judgemental of emerging fan-favourite, Jamie Marinos.

As the pair shared similar values, the experts matched them up. But as we jump cut to their honeymoon, we soon learn that Eliot wanted nothing to do with Lauren, as he raved on and on about how he wanted someone younger than him and someone who matches his hobbies.

In an attempt to salvage her time in the experiment, Lauren attempted to have a heart-to-heart with Eliot during their honeymoon. But when she tried to have a morning chat with her new husband, it felt like he was just negging her.

All of a sudden, Eliot pipes up by saying he thinks he knows better than the experts… despite going on a show where you put your trust in the experts. LOL, yeah, okay mate.

While Lauren gave him that opportunity to open up about his non-negotiables, the controversial groom decided to have this difficult chat over a super lush dinner.

The dinner kicked off with a conversation about kids, to which Lauren revealed she only wanted one and Eliot said he wanted a big family.

Lauren’s reasons were super valid, stating that having a bigger family means you need to upsize everything and cut down on travel. However, Eliot took this remark as her wanting to spend energy and money on superficial things like luxury goods and bags.

When Lauren disagreed, Eliot pointed out her luxury handbag, to which she (rightfully) snapped back, saying, “What does an expensive handbag got to do with that?”

Eliot then told her not to get “defensive” and she stood her ground saying, “I feel like you just did”.

Lauren continued to call out her MAFS husband for making inaccurate generalisations about her. She then brought up the statement to which he said he wouldn’t listen to the experts and slammed him for wasting her time.

“Why put your hope and trust into the experts, put three months of work, like you’re better off going down to the pub or the local phone box and meeting some random,” Eliot snapped. SHE ATE.

Eliot got owned AGAIN by Lauren when she said he should’ve been matched with a 20-year-old right after he said she should’ve been matched with someone in their 40s.

“Someone who’s just young and dumb,” Lauren smirked before Eliot said he actually likes someone who’s “intelligent” and that he’s “selective”.

AGAIN, why are you here?

The following morning, we quickly discover — which has been teased for the last two episodes TBH — that Eliot wants to leave all because he didn’t get what he wanted.

Thankfully, Lauren gave him a piece of her mind and reminded him that he was on MAFS, where you don’t get to cherry-pick ya wife.

“It’s also an experiment like it’s not a guaranteed happily ever after,” Lauren reminded him.

“We were told right throughout that it would be challenging and like, we’ve taken two planes, a bus and ferry to come here. You could spend the next two days and actually have some fun.”

Despite her pleas, the big sook said it was “pointless”.

“It’s very frustrating to me, running away after three days, you made a commitment to me,” Lauren snapped back, to which Eliot replied that he would’ve only committed to the marriage if the experts “respected my non-negotiables”.

When his wife asked what they were, he admits he wanted “someone younger than me, like 25, someone who wants a big family, someone that’s into exercise like me, someone that is not inter superficial things”.

It’s then revealed that, yes, this boy is leaving the experiment.

“It’s actually fascinating to watch a grown man throwing a tantrum because he didn’t get exactly what he wanted. It’s a huge cop out and it’s very disappointing,” Lauren shared.

Eliot then decides to go full ‘I want to speak to the manager mode’ and asks a producer for the experts to sit down with him to explain why he was matched with Lauren. When asked if he thought he gave the experiment a “fair shot”, Eliot said: “I gave it the shot that I said I would based on the match.”

“No one said this was going to be easy,” the produced replied.

He then rustled around, called for another producer named Robbie and walked off.

JFC. High-key glad he’s gone and I’m actually so proud of Lauren for standing her ground, getting her licks in, and calling him out.

Anyway here’s what the viewers had to say about Eliot’s tantrum.
