MAFS Editing Fail Spotted By Aussie Reality Star On TikTok: ‘So Bad’

You’d be forgiven for thinking we’re already halfway through Season 12 of Married At First Sight (MAFS) based on how chaotic it’s been so far, but we’re shockingly only four episodes in. Buckle up.

From two couples who already knew each other (!!) to two runaway grooms (!!!) MAFS’ episodes have given fans heaps to talk about, with the latest being no exception.

This time however, sharp-sighted fans spotted a rather weird editing fail during a conversation between newlyweds Eliot Donovan and Lauren Hall

Donovan’s beer glass seemed to fluctuate between almost empty, to full, to empty, to full again while the pair spoke.

TikTok user and Love Island Australia alum Erin Alysha (@erin.alysha) pointed out this editing mishap, captioning the video: “How could they edit this part so badly?”.

Comments on the TikTok also shared their bewilderment over the editing choice: “This was driving me insane”.

Instagram user MAFS Gossip (@mafsgossip) reposted the video on their page, with MAFS fans similarly chiming in on the editing fail.

“Highly edited show. You really can’t trust everything you’ve been shown,” one fan wrote.

However, other commenters on both platforms mentioned that this style of editing is a staple of reality TV, and was most likely used as B-roll.

“I mean it’s bad continuity but it’s just for overlay [sic] over her dialogue. It’s not exactly misleading people.

“I’ve worked in TV. A scene like this would have been filmed over hours.

“They don’t want to show you the entire conversation, you’d be bored shitless if you sat through hours of dinner.

“They just want to show the relevant bits. This is how editing works.”

Editing fails aside, the conversation between Donovan and Hall has sparked some discourse with fans.

Donovan, who is 35, has been having a proper sook over being paired with Hall, 37, due to her not meeting his extensive list of “non-negotiables”.

Despite Hall being a gorgeous business-owner looking to become a stay-at-home mum (which was on Donovan’s aforementioned list), Donovan took umbrage with her age

“I did say I wanted someone that was younger than me, preferably someone under 30,” Donovan said to camera.

Hall and Donovan sat down to dinner to discuss their relationship, which soon took a pretty dramatic turn.

While talking about kids, Donovan and Hall butted heads over how big they wanted their family to be.

When Hall stated she only wanted one child – in contrast to Donovan wanting more – due to not wanting to cut down on travel or having to upsize, Donovan called her out for being “superficial”.

Things did not go well for the two after that, leading to a massive argument (which Hall totally won, BTW) and Donovan walking out on his bride and the experiment just three days in.

Reminder, MAFS Season 12 has just begun. We’re in for a time!
