Married At First Sight (MAFS) ‘bride’ Carina Mirabile has addressed recent concerns following an alleged violent incident involving her ‘husband’ Paul Antione, with NSW Police also initiating an investigation.
The off-camera incident came to in last Wednesday’s episode, when Mirabile disclosed that Paul had punched a hole in a wall off-camera. It reportedly occurred at their apartment in Sydney’s One Global Resorts Green Square, after Carina admitted to sleeping with a rapper whose song was playing on the radio during a car ride. It’s understood cast members Rhi Disljenkovic and Jeff Gobbels were also in the car.
NSW Police confirmed they were investigating the alleged incident. “The matter has been referred to officers from South Sydney Police Area Command, who have commenced an investigation,” a spokesperson told PEDESTRIAN.TV.
“As the investigation is current, police will not be making any further comment in relation to the matter.”
Wednesday’s episode has sparked major backlash, with viewers accusing MAFS of “normalising domestic violence”.
On Sunday night’s episode, MAFS experts laid into Antione, with John Aiken describing them as “toxic, inappropriate and unacceptable”.
Alessandra Rampolla added: “It does not matter what she said … It does not matter how disrespected you felt.”
She continued: “You do not punch walls. You do not punch doors. Period. Full stop. That intimidates.”

As part of the police investigation, Sky News reports that Channel Nine (the owner of this masthead) has been asked to cooperate.
“The NSW Police department escalated the request for a proper investigation and have approached Channel Nine to cooperate on Thursday,” a police insider told Sky News, while a Nine insider revealed that “footage is likely to be seized and participants will be approached to assist the investigation”.
In a statement to PEDESTRIAN.TV, Nine and Endemol Shine said that it would be assisting police with their investigation.
“We would always co-operate with authorities in any investigation. We will not be making any further comment at this time,” the statement said.
Nine and Endemol Shine also shared a statement with the Sydney Morning Herald, which said: “All participants have access to the show psychologist and welfare resources during filming, during broadcast and once the program has ended.”
In a statement to the Daily Mail, Nine and Endemol Shine explained why Mirabile and Antione remained part of the show.
“Our first priority at all times has been the wellbeing and safety of the participants and after extensive consultation with Carina, she wanted to remain in the experiment with Paul,” the statement said.
“We continue to provide support for Carina and Paul.”
The show was also reported to SafeWork NSW, according to the SMH.

However, Mirabile has downplayed the incident, telling the MAFS Funny Podcast this week that she’s “surprised” the police investigation has “gotten to this point”.
“He didn’t give me any signs, he is a very good human,” she said of Antione.
“At the end of the day I felt safe and it was up to me, essentially,” she added.
“I think I was just so overwhelmed, I was in shock. I was not scared.”
