Married At First Sight is back for another explosive series following a hit run last autumn on E4 and two of this year’s brides have spoken out about the upcoming show.
With a longer run of 30 episodes to look forward to, some of the UK’s most adventurous singles will put the search for love in the hands of relationship experts Mel Schilling, Paul C. Brunson and Charlene Douglas.
Derby social worker Chanita Stephenson and London dress designer April Banbury appeared on Lorraine on Monday morning to chat about their wedding days on the new series.
Host Christine Lampard noted that she interviewed relationship expert Mel on the show last week, who said this series is set to be “one of the best” with its longer run.
Christine said: “I do believe they've made it a little bit more like the Australia one, which I do love. It’s brilliant.”
Chanita said: “You won't want to miss it,” as April replied: “There's more fireworks than bonfire night!”
Chanita continued: “We have lived it and we would come out of the dinner parties like, ‘wow, as if that’s happened’. Honestly, I've watched Married At First Sight before and I thought, ‘we must look crazy, we’re going to look crazy’ – in the best way.”
As the interview wrapped up, Christine hinted: “I’m pleased to say you both look happy today and I'm going to take that as a good thing – I’m not asking any questions to give it away, but it’s been an interesting happy experience so far?”
Chanita said: “Yeah, it’s once in a lifetime and I would recommend anyone that wants to do it to do it, because you learn so much about yourself.
“Not just in a relationship, but you as a person. You get your husband, your partner and also make friends for life. You just get so much more.”
The popular show promises to be “bigger and more dramatic” this series as a bunch of singles go on the journey of a lifetime, kicking off with a stag night for the boys, and hens night for the ladies.
The couples will then say ‘I do’ after meeting each other for the first time on their wedding day.
After the ceremony and celebrations are over, true love is well and truly put to the test, as they embark on a luxurious honeymoon, before moving in with each other and their fellow couples.
Relationships will be put under the microscope, by fellow brides and grooms at weekly dinner parties as well as by the experts, at recurring commitment ceremonies, where couples choose whether they want to stay in or leave the process.
All this and more will build to a dramatic series finale: glossy, high-stakes vow renewals, in which each couple must decide if they will recommit to their partner or go their separate ways, for good.
Of the couples from the 2021 series of the show, two couples are still together, one of which has a baby on the way.
