MAFS Australia fans praise 'strong' Sandy for going ahead with wedding amid parents' disapproval

Married At First Sight Australia fans were left praising Sandy for going ahead with her marriage despite her parents' disapproval.

Dental assistant Sandy admitted she was nervous to tell her parents about her decision to go on the show as she was raised in a strict Indian household. The camera crew were not allowed to film the conversation between Sandy and her parents as they refused to allow them into their house.

As the crew waited on the street outside, Sandy emerged an hour later in floods of tears as the conversation clearly did not go well. During the emotional scenes, producers could be heard off-screen asking the bride-to-be if she was okay.

Speaking to the camera after the heartbreaking confrontation, Sandy said her parents threatened to turn their back on her for good if she went through with the wedding. Despite not having the support of her parents, Sandy went ahead with the nuptials with her sisters supporting her every step of the way.

She went on to tie the knot with semi-retired businessman Dan, who was blown away by his traditional Indian bride as she walked down the aisle. The Aussie bride was noticeably nervous as she stood at the altar, but was comforted by the father-of-one as they shared the same family values and vowed to be patient with one another.

Viewers took to Twitter after the emotional scenes aired to share their heartache for Sandy, but praised the star for staying strong and believing in herself. One said: "Feel sorry for Sandy, Red flag for me was her parents not allowing cameras in...she's better off without her parents, they seem too controlling worrying what ppl will think of them ..#MAFSAUS."

"I really admire Sandy for stepping away from her controlling parents. They probably had her marked as the daughter who does all the caring for them. I don't believe parents like that will ever have regrets as they're so self-centered. #mafsaus," another penned.

A third added: "Watching the part where Sandy told her parents that she was doing the show. How can parents be so cruel to their children?! Seriously, you’re cutting her off for WHAT?! Makes me to angry. #MAFSAUS #MAFSAU."

"From Sandy's reaction, it seems like her parents didn't want cameras in the house because they didn't want their abuse to be aired on national television... #mafs," a fourth wrote. While someone else echoed: "This is how certain cultures lose their children. Sandy you live life your way, even if your parents aren't onboard!! Strong woman!! #MAFSAUS #MarriedAtFirstSightAUS."

Another gushed: "Sandy is breaking my heart she’s beautiful and her parents should be so proud of her. I know her culture is different from ours but she deserves to be so happy #MAFSAU."
