MAFS’ Adrian Araouzou Shares Why He Didn’t Do The Letter Writing Challenge In A Rogue TikTok Live

Controversial Married At First Sight (MAFS) groom Adrian Araouzou has finally revealed the reason why he didn’t participate in the letter-writing challenge earlier in the season.

One of the first tasks our MAFS couples are handed in the experiment is the pivotal letter-writing challenge. However, for Awhina Rutene, the emotional, sentimental task was ripped away from her grasp after we discovered that Adrian, her on-screen husband, refused to participate in the challenge.

At the time, Adrian did not provide a real reason behind why he chose to opt out of this specific task. As a result, the groom became the subject of brutal jokes questioning his literacy skills.

It even got to a point where Adrian and his twin, James Araouzou, joined in on the banter.

After weeks upon weeks of MAFS drama and behind-the-scenes tea, Adrian has now decided to reveal the real reason behind his decision to skip out on the challenge.

Why did Married At First Sight‘s Adrian Araouzou not do the letter-writing challenge?

In a rogue TikTok Live, obtained by Daily Mail Australia, the controversial MAFS 2025 groom claimed he was “stitched up” by producers, but confirmed that he didn’t write anything for Awhina.

“I can say that time I didn’t write the letter, they made me look bad, but it was like 10 o’clock at night,” he shared in the footage obtained by the publication.

“The real reason behind me not writing that letter was because the actual letter — which I don’t think anyone knows about — it was actually about a pivotal moment in your life that changed you for the better, right? And obviously, I knew Awhina was going to write about her son, and I wrote a letter, but then I’m like, I don’t want a sob story, I don’t want people to be like ‘Oh, poor Adrian’.”

Alongside the mammoth tea spill, Adrian acknowledged that he should’ve told Awhina why he chose not to participate in the task.

“I should have been like, ‘Hey Awhina, this is why I don’t want it, because I don’t want to look like poor me. I don’t want to tell the world everything. I’m happy to tell you off-camera, and I don’t want that to take away from your story, so I still want to hear your story,'” Adrian admitted.

“That is how I should have handled it, but I didn’t. No excuse, but I was tired. I was exhausted.

“I was being inconsiderate to Awhina and nothing else… We live and learn.”

Further in the impromptu TikTok Live, Adrian got candid about his relationship style as well as his understanding of his love, revealing that he struggles to express affection.

“If Awhina’s crying, as much as I want to give her a hug, I feel like it’s forced. I’ve got to force it, and that’s not healthy, and I understand that,” he revealed.

As someone who’s been eagle-eyeing this season since day dot, I have a lot of strong opinions about Adrian. But hey, at least he can acknowledge that he was selfish during his time on MAFS.

Maybe he shouldn’t have been on there in the first place… IDK, that’s just my two cents!

That being said I really hope Awhina and her sister, Cleo Rutene, are living their best lives post-MAFS.

Married At First Sight returns tomorrow on Channel Nine and 9Now.
