The UK's Eurovision 2023 act has been announced as Mae Muller, who will represent the country in May.
The 25-year-old singer will take to the stage in Liverpool with the track I Wrote A Song. Muller was selected to represent by BBC bosses and global management company TaP Music, which has Lana Del Rey and Ellie Goulding among its clients, writes The Mirror.
TaP also selected last year's runner-up Sam Ryder who placed second behind Ukraine. Mae's selection makes her the first woman to perform for the UK since SuRie competed in 2018 with Storm, placing 24th.
But who is Mae? Here's everything you need to know about the singer that will hopefully lead the country to victory...
The North Londoner was just 19-years-old when she wrote her first song, Close, which was produced by a family friend and "paid" for with wine instead of money. Muller's early musical influences included Prince and Sade - while Gwen Stefani, Florence Welch and Lily Allen have also inspired her to pursue her singing career.
Her tracks touch on "dysfunctional relationships and inconvenient emotions with wit and verve", according to her record label Capitol. And in the last few years, Mae has worked with some well known acts such as Little Mix, rapper Aitch and music producer and DJ Sigala.
In 2021 she released Better Days, featuring Neiked and Polo G, and it peaked at number 32 in the UK charts. The star has collated over 126,000 followers on Instagram and more than 6.1 million tune into her Spotify monthly.
She also was presented the opportunity to support Little Mix on their LM5 tour in 2019, which was their last to feature former member Jesy Nelson.
And just last year, she performed at TRNSMT Festival at Glasgow Green.
Glasgow just missed out on hosting the Eurovision competition this year and instead Liverpool will host after the UK was chosen to host the competition on behalf of war-torn Ukraine. Tickets for the much anticipated final will take place at the 11,000-capacity Liverpool Arena later this year, tickets went on sale on Tuesday but fans snapped them up quickly and they sold out in minutes.
While some fans celebrated after they were able to secure tickets, others commiserated after experiencing technical difficulties when trying to purchase tickets through the Ticketmaster website. Eurovision is set to air on the BBC and will be hosted by singer and Britain's Got Talent judge Alesha Dixon, Ted Lasso actress Hannah Waddingham and Ukrainian singer Julia Sanina, as well as returning favourite, comedian and talk show host Graham Norton.
The semi-final evening preview kicks off at 8pm on May 8, with the grand final live show bringing the contest to an end starting at 8pm on May 13.
