Madonna says she's directing her own film biopic to stop ‘misogynistic men’ doing it first

Madonna has revealed that she is directing her own movie, about herself, in a bid to stop “misogynistic men” beating her to it.

The 63-year-old chart-topper is currently working on a feature-length biopic about her life and career in the music industry.

“No one’s going to tell my story, but me,” the Like A Virgin songstress told Variety in an interview about the forthcoming flick.

“I’ve had an extraordinary life, I must make an extraordinary film,” she said.

“It was also a pre-emptive strike because a lot of people were trying to make movies about me. Mostly misogynistic men.

“So, I put my foot in the door and said, ‘No one’s going to tell my story, but me.’"

Madonna says she has “a very long script” that is “really hard for me to make shorter” and that she had been “whittling away at it, but it’s like hacking off my limbs.”

Inventing Anna star Julia Garner has reportedly been cast to play Madonna and was a “favourite from over a dozen candidates”.

Speaking on why she refuses to sell her music catalogue, Madonna added: “Because they’re my songs. Ownership is everything isn’t it?”

The forthcoming film has already been set up with Universal Pictures, however, a release date has not yet been confirmed.

The news comes after proud mum Madonna showed off her kids' dancing skills on social media as David and Estere bust a move in a very impressive video.

The singer posted the clip, which featured son David, 16, and daughter Estere, nine, dancing in a kitchen, on Instagram earlier this week.

They were seen dancing along to the song Melanin - released by Sauti Sol and featuring Patoranking - in the clip, shared by the mother-of-six with her 18 million followers.

David - who was adopted by Madonna and then-husband Guy Ritchie, now 53, in 2006 - was seen performing to it in a silk dress, designed by Mae Couture, in the recent video.

He had previously modelled the off-white couture gown - which features black letters printed over it - in footage that had been uploaded to the platform by Madonna last year.

Estere - who along with her twin sister Stella, also nine, was adopted by Madonna in 2017 - is seen wearing a floral blue dress in the new clip, accompanied by a pair of loafers.

As well as being a parent to David and the twins, Madonna is also mother to Lourdes, 25, and Rocco, 21, from previous relationships, and Mercy, who she adopted in 2009.
