Madonna's fans desperately urged her to cancel tour days before hospital dash

Madonna's worried fans pleaded with her to shelve her 84-date tour days before she was rushed to intensive care.

The sick superstar developed a serious bacterial infection on Saturday and had to make a hospital dash after falling unwell following intense rehearsals.

As the Like A Prayer singer gets around-the-clock medical attention, her family – including her six children – were said to have been "preparing for the worst".

Madonna's latest social media post offered some clues after she uploaded a series of somber snaps and her fans clearly noticed something wasn't quite right.

Her fans don't want to see her back on stage until she is 100% ready and they have flooded social media to tell the megastar that recovery is all that matters after a worrying few days.

One told her on Instagram: "Please don’t do the tour your health is the priority not the tour Madonna take good care of yourself..you are within the lgbttq+ and the rest of New York a national treasure..sending you positive energy..you’ve got this my Queen".

Another put: "@Madonna if you read this, know that we don't care if you never ever release a new single or if you never put your feet on a stage again, we want you to be healthy more than anything. We love you like a close family member. You gave us so much already. I will pray the most i can for your fast and total recovery. Get well soon, we love you with all our hearts",

Over on twitter, the vibe was similar.

"Madonna – I don’t care if I have to wait five years for the tour and the set list is Candy Shop 26 times over, I just want you well." one fan posted on the platform.

She was told by another: "The more minutes and hours passes the more anxious I get! I need to know that @Madonna is better! I don’t care about the tour, I just wish my queen is ok!"

With her tour now postponed as a result, her fans are waiting for the news that the 64-year-old is on the mend.

According to PageSix, Madonna was found unresponsive and rushed to a hospital in New York on Saturday.

The news - which comes just two weeks before she was due to embark on her Celebration tour - was shared by her manager Guy Oseary on Instagram.

He wrote in a statement: "On Saturday, June 24, Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection which lead to a several-day stay in the ICU.

"Her health is improving, however she is still under medical care. A full recovery is expected. At this time we will need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour."

Guy concluded the statement by writing: "We will share more details with you as soon as we have them, including a new start date for the tour and for rescheduled shows."

PageSix said it had heard that Madonna was intubated for at least one night before having the tube removed. It added that she's now said to be alert and recovering.

Her upcoming tour - which was announced earlier this year - had been due to launch in Canada on July 15 and was scheduled to run for six months until January next year.
