Lourdes Leon might be best known for having famous parents but she's also a model, dancer, and singer in her own right.
The 26-year-old nicknamed Lola is the daughter of Queen of Pop Madonna and Big Lebowski actor Carlos Leon.
She started dabbling in the music industry at a young age, appearing in her mother's music video for "Madonna: Celebration".
Plus, Leon opted to go to an arts school for college, immediately setting the tone for her career. Over the years, she has grown her own following and fanbase with over 475K Instagram followers.
Let us introduce you to Lourdes Leon and you can decide if you'll be jumping into her fanbase, too.
Lourdes Leon says she doesn't receive "handouts" from her famous family.
Growing up in the limelight comes with its drawbacks, but what does sweeten the deal, often, is the extreme wealth. Despite her access to money and her immense privilege, Leon, 26, says she was encouraged to pave her own way.
"We don't get any handouts in the family," she told Debi Mezar for Interview Magazine. "I think my mom saw all these other kids of famous people, and she was like, 'My kids are not going to be like this.'"
As part of her efforts to establish herself independently, Leon technically paid her own way through school. She attended the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance as a legacy. (Madonna also attended before she dropped out to pursue her music career.)
Her tuition money may have come from her own pocket, but it was earned through the clothing line that she founded with her mother. The brand was even named after a Madonna song — "Material Girl".
Nonetheless, Madonna has adamantly said that her daughter, who was only 13-years-old at the time, took ownership of the brand.
She told the Associated Press: "If Lola wasn't so completely involved in the line, designing, consulting, whatever you want to call it, I wouldn't do it," she said. "I just stand in the background and go, 'That's cool. That's not cool.'"
Even though having Madonna as her mother has given her access to resources and wealth, that doesn't mean everything was perfect behind the scenes.
In fact, Leon has even called her mother a "control freak."
She told Interview "I feel like if your parents pay for things, then it gives them leverage over you."
Leon has also praised her mother for being the "hardest worker" she has ever seen. She, though, admittedly did not inherit that same trait.
She said: "I inherited her control issues, but not her work ethic."
Madonna herself has admitted that it isn't easy for her children, calling its "a challenge" for them. For her, motherhood hasn't always been easy. She is the mother to six children which is already a feat in itself. Mix in a dash (or maybe a whole bunch) of fame, its sure to get even more difficult.
She told Variety: "Whoever you are, having children and raising them is a work of art. And no one gives you a manual. You have to learn from mistakes. It is a profession that requires a lot of time. And it is exhausting because there is never rest."
Leon is mostly a model, but has also ventured into music as well, which is something she wasn't initially looking to do. She's always admitted to being able to sing, but until 2022 she hadn't actually released anything.
Madonna told Variety: "I have never encouraged my daughter Lola to make music."
If that's true it means that Leon made this venture entirely on its own, despite the similarities between her music and her mother's. Leon released her first single, "Lock&Key," under the artist name "Lolahol." Her music is certainly still of the pop variety, but it ventures a tad toward alternative and dreamy sounds.
By the time she released her song "C***radiction" not too long after, her sound became more reminiscent of her mother. Plus, she accompanied the drop with a 'raunchy' music video.
As for her modeling, Leon became the face of Marc Jacobs in 2021. The company said in a statement to USA Today that the decision to feature Leon was, in part, because of her mother.
The Marc Jacobs brand said: "Lourdes represents the new generation of Marc Jacobs and is closely tied with the brand given that she’s Madonna’s daughter who is a longtime muse and close friend of Marc’s."
As stunning as Leon is, a natural model, she isn't really looking to let her beauty define her.
She said her mother gave her some advice: "My mom is very insistent on making me think about what I want to be known for beyond my looks,” Leon said. “That’s not what I want people to remember me by. It’s not real.”
