Madonna has revealed she regrets getting married twice in candid confession

Madonna has admitted she regrets tying the knot twice as she looked back on her life to date in a candid YouTube upload.

The songstress, 54, was honest with her fans as she answered 50 questions they sent in based on her upcoming album, career to date, guilty pleasures and biggest regrets.

She confessed that her marriages weren't the "best idea". The Holiday singer married Sean Penn, 62, in 1985 before splitting in 1989. She was later married to Guy Ritchie between 2000 and 2008.

She had previously admitted that she couldn't express herself as an artist during her second marriage.

Speaking to The Sun in 2015, Madonna said: "There were times I felt incarcerated. I wasn't really allowed to be myself. You've got to find someone who accepts who you are and is comfortable with that."

And she has also claimed in the past she'd prefer to get "run over by a train" than walk down the aisle again.

Elsewhere in her latest upload, the music icon admitted she'd be a school teacher if she hadn't have gone down the route of a performer. And when revealing how she continues to find inspiration even though it is a completely different world to when she started out, Madonna said: "If 'you're a curious person and you're paying attention to life you'll never stop being inspired."

The Like A Prayer singer is currently working on a feature-length film based on her life, but admits it's hard to be able to "cram" her entire life into such a short space of time.

And the mum-of-six, who is currently dating model Andrew Darnell, 23, has revealed her 'current favourite obsession' is sex. She said it had kept her going before admitting she'd love to work with Britney Spears again, 19 years after they pair released their hit track Me Against The Music.

The collaboration could move a step closer now the Toxic singer, 40, has returned to the microphone. The blonde beauty has worked with Sir Elton John to release her first tune in six years.

The song, titled Hold Me Closer, is a remix of the Rocket Man's previous hit record titled Tiny Dancer and quickly raced into the number one spot in the charts.
