INDORE: A newly married couple from Dhar were among four persons killed when their car crashed into a highway divider in Ratlam on Monday afternoon. The impact was so severe that the front of the car shattered into pieces.
Raviraj Singh Rathore, 30, and his wife 22-year-old Renu Kanwar Rathore, were married for just nine days and were headed for Jaipur when they were killed. Their aunts Bhanwar Kanwar, 45, and Renu Shekhawat, 42, also died in the accident, police said. Raviraj's mother, 55-year-old Vinod Kunwar Rathore, has survived but with severe injuries.
Car slammed into concrete divider; mangled
The five family members were going to drop Renu at her maternal house in Rajasthan when the accident occurred," Biplank police station in-charge Deepak Shejwar told TOI, adding that Raviraj and Renu had married on February 5. Raviraj lost control of the car, which slammed into a concrete divider near Jamunia Fante, around 25km ahead of Ratlam town.
Other motorists informed police, who removed the victims from the mangled wreckage and took them to the district hospital. Four of them were declared dead on arrival, said Shejwar, adding that police contacted family members, who went to the hospital and identified the victims. Raviraj's mother is under treatment.
