BHOPAL: The state BJP on Thursday held a tribal convention at the party headquarters to thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi, national party president JP Nadda and the central leadership for selecting former Jharkhand Governor Draupadi Murmu as NDA’s candidate for the Presidential elections.
Dressed in tribal attire, CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan and state BJP president VD Sharma danced with tribal artistes to music and beating of drums, while holding peacock feathers in their hands.
The BJP called many of its tribal leaders, including Union minister Faggan Singh Kulaste and state minister for forests Vijay Shah, to join the celebrations at the Deendayal Parisar BJP state office on Thursday morning.
“For years after independence, Congress only exploited tribal society for votes and never thought of their well-being. But a new revolution is happening under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi,” Chouhan said.
“The BJP government is not only working for the uplift of the tribal society through development, but is also paying respect by giving them placement in appropriate positions,” he added.
